Trainee Quantity Surveyor – Construction Commercial Trainee

About the role

Lawtech is seeking a motivated Trainee Quantity Surveyor to support the commercial management of cladding remediation projects across London and the Southeast. Working closely with senior surveyors and commercial managers, you will gain hands‑on experience in budgeting, cost control, and contract administration.

Key responsibilities

• Assist in managing project plans, budgets, costs and contract terms under guidance of senior surveyors.
• Liaise with Surveyors, Senior Project Managers, Financial Controller, Procurement Manager and Estimator.
• Prepare valuations, compile documentation for cash‑flow and sales forecasts.
• Monitor orders, deliveries, invoicing of materials and sub‑contractor payments.
• Update the in‑house Project Probe system with relevant project information.
• Attend site meetings and support the commercial team to maximise project profit.

Required profile

• Working towards an industry qualification (e.g., IOB, RICS) or a related degree.
• Strong interest or experience in the construction sector.
• CSCS visitor card (or as required by client) and DBS clearance where applicable.

Required skills

• Proficient in MS Excel.
• Proficient in MS Word.
• Proficient in Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar).
• Ability to learn and use Project Probe software (training provided).
