Transport Controller

About the role

The Transport Controller will manage and optimise both UK and international transport operations for a well‑established, globally active organisation. You will ensure goods move timely, cost‑effectively and in full compliance with regulations while supporting continuous improvement across the transport function.

Key responsibilities

• Oversee carrier performance and negotiate transport agreements.
• Monitor transport expenditure and drive cost‑control initiatives.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC, customs and transport legislation.
• Manage customs and shipping documentation and support audit requirements.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to maintain service levels and identify efficiency gains.
• Contribute to long‑term transport planning and continuous improvement projects.

Required profile

• Proven experience in transport, logistics, supply chain or freight operations, including planning, scheduling and carrier management.
• Strong understanding of transport legislation and compliance requirements.
• Excellent organisational, problem‑solving and stakeholder‑management abilities.
• Commercial awareness with a focus on cost control.
• Ability to analyse performance data and implement improvements.
