Women's Pathway Lead Doctor (Part-Time)

About the role
The Football Association is seeking a part‑time Women’s Pathway Lead Doctor to oversee high‑performance medical services across England’s women’s football pathway (U15–U23). You will ensure players receive optimal health and performance support, contributing directly to the success of England’s national teams.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the management, recruitment, development and retention of the consultant casual doctor workforce for all pathway teams.
- Provide off‑camp support to team doctors and oversee seasonal, camp and tournament planning for each age‑group.
- Collaborate with the Women’s Pathway Lead Physiotherapist to deliver integrated medical and physiotherapy services.
- Work with MDT pathway leads and national coaches to align with the ‘One Pride Built To Roar’ strategy.
- Develop relationships with club medical staff to ensure smooth player transitions into and out of pathway camps.
- Contribute to medical policy and guidance for best practice in international football preparation.
- Support key medical projects and steering groups that provide competitive advantage.
- Uphold medical governance standards across all pathway teams.
- Oversee camp‑related equipment and medical consumables.
- Help develop and implement a Women’s Performance Medicine Strategy.
- Provide medical guidance to the Female Athlete Health Delivery Lead.
- Execute additional tasks as required to meet FA priorities and comply with health, safety and DBS requirements.
Required profile
- Medical degree and GMC registration to practice in the UK.
- MSc or Diploma in Sport and Exercise Medicine.
- Member of the Faculty of Sports and Exercise Medicine (UK).
- Extensive experience as a team doctor in elite sport.
- Proven experience working within multi‑disciplinary teams.
- Strong academic and applied knowledge of sports medicine.
