CNC Turner – Setter/Operator (Backshift)

About the role

Our client, a specialist manufacturer, is seeking a multiskilled CNC Turner – Setter/Operator to join their permanent back‑shift team. The role works 14:30‑00:30, Monday‑Thursday, and involves setting up and operating Victor CNC lathes with Fanuc controls to produce precision turned components.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate Victor CNC turning machines, including mill functions where required.
• Hand deburr and fettle detailed components and perform quality checks on own work.
• Read and interpret technical engineering drawings and CNC programmes.
• Use the manufacturing system to verify material availability, part requirements and issue routings.
• Troubleshoot offsets, adjust coordinates and perform basic machine maintenance to minimise downtime.
• Maintain a clean, organised work area and adhere to health and safety standards within a 5S cell.

Required profile

• Engineering apprenticeship, City & Guilds, NVQ or equivalent technical certificate.
• Minimum three years’ experience in CNC turning and milling.
• Proven ability to set up and operate CNC machines with Fanuc controls.
• Strong mechanical knowledge of tooling, fixtures and machine maintenance.
• Ability to read technical drawings and specifications accurately.
• Capable of working independently and as part of a team.
