Interim Head of Procurement – Public Sector (12‑18 month contract)

About the role

This interim position supports a public‑sector organisation through a critical period of change and improvement. You will work with an established procurement team, strengthening processes, embedding best practice and delivering transformation initiatives.

Key responsibilities

• Lead and support an established procurement team.
• Drive procurement improvement and transformation programmes.
• Strengthen contract management, governance and supplier performance.
• Ensure compliance with the Procurement Act 2023 and public‑sector regulations.
• Provide commercial advice to stakeholders across the organisation.
• Deliver sourcing projects that achieve value‑for‑money outcomes.

Required profile

• Experience at Head of Procurement or Senior Procurement Manager level in the public sector.
• Proven track record of delivering procurement change, improvement or transformation programmes.
• Strong knowledge of the Procurement Act 2023 and public‑sector procurement frameworks.
• Experience in contract management, governance and supplier relationship management.
• Excellent people leadership and stakeholder engagement skills.
• Practical, hands‑on approach with ability to deliver rapid improvements.
