Prescribing Support Pharmacy Technician (Band 5)

About the role

The Prescribing Support Pharmacy Technician will join the Central Services Team to deliver a range of pharmacy support services across 121 GP practices and 180 community pharmacies. This permanent Band 5 position offers the chance to work in an innovative environment with a well‑established team.

Key responsibilities

• Provide prescribing data reporting and analysis for practice‑based pharmacy teams.
• Manage medicines shortages and coordinate appropriate responses.
• Maintain prescribing IT systems, including Scriptswitch.
• Authorise community pharmacies to procure unlicensed medicines.
• Collaborate closely with GPs, community pharmacy staff and other practice personnel.

Required profile

• Qualified Pharmacy Technician with relevant experience.
• Current PVG Scheme membership (adult and/or child as required).
• Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom.
• Commitment to NHS values of equality, diversity and inclusion.

Required skills

• Proficiency with the Scriptswitch prescribing system.
• Experience in prescribing data analysis.
• Knowledge of medicines shortage management processes.
