Psychological Therapist / Clinical Psychologist (Band 7)

About the role

We are seeking an enthusiastic Psychological Therapist or Clinical/Counselling Psychologist to join the NHS Shetland Community Mental Health Team. This is a 12‑month fixed‑term position at Band 7, working 36 hours per week, based primarily at Lerwick Health Centre with occasional duties in Scalloway and the option for hybrid working.

Key responsibilities

• Manage a varied individual clinical caseload covering the full spectrum of mental health difficulties.
• Receive regular supervision from the Consultant Psychologist.
• Provide supervision, multidisciplinary team consultation and training to a range of staff.
• Develop and contribute to the growth of a group therapy programme.
• Maintain a commitment to continuing professional development and career progression.

Required profile

• Qualified Psychological Therapist, Clinical Psychologist or Counselling Psychologist.
• Experience working with diverse mental health presentations within the NHS or comparable setting.
• Willingness to work in Lerwick and travel to Scalloway as needed.
• Ability to engage in supervision, training and group programme development.

• Salary range £52,845 – £61,466 per annum (Band 7).
