Retail Customer Assistant – Hospital Café

About the role

The Royal Voluntary Service is looking for a friendly Retail Customer Assistant to join the team at Dr. Grays Hospital in Elgin. Working part‑time on Saturdays, you will help run the hospital café and shop, providing a welcoming experience for patients, visitors and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Deliver friendly, efficient service to all customers, answering questions and promoting specials.
• Operate the till, process payments and complete cash‑up procedures.
• Maintain high standards of cleanliness, health‑and‑safety and food hygiene.
• Keep stock and displays replenished, ordering supplies when needed.
• Assist with occasional overtime on busy periods, weekends or bank holidays.

Required profile

• Positive attitude with a can‑do mindset and willingness to learn.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to adapt to a diverse range of people.
• Good organisational abilities and a flexible approach to working hours.
• Basic literacy and numeracy proficiency.

Required skills

• Experience or familiarity with EPOS and till systems.
• Comfortable using email and the internet for basic tasks.
