Deputy General Manager – Clinical Lead

About the role

Barchester is seeking a Deputy General Manager who will also act as Clinical Lead for one of its care homes. Reporting to the General Manager, you will help maintain the high quality of care the brand is known for, stepping in to lead the team when the GM is absent.

Key responsibilities

• Support the General Manager in day‑to‑day operations and ensure compliance with regulatory standards.
• Lead a multidisciplinary team to deliver person‑centred care and improve residents’ quality of life.
• Conduct regular audits, supervise clinical practice and monitor audit findings.
• Oversee safeguarding investigations and clinical risk assessments.
• Contribute to budgeting, sales and marketing activities and help develop strategic initiatives.
• Mentor newly qualified nurses through preceptorship and provide ongoing staff development.

Required profile

• Registered Nurse (RN/RMN) with current NMC registration.
• Teaching, mentoring or supervision qualification.
• Proven experience managing safeguarding investigations and clinical risk assessments.
• Some HR experience and knowledge of budget management.
• Demonstrated ability to support and develop junior nursing staff.
• Compassionate, resilient and committed to delivering high‑quality care.
