Building/Facilities Maintenance Technician

About the role

The Building/Facilities Maintenance Technician will be based in Dartmouth and will be responsible for the day‑to‑day upkeep of a commercial site. Reporting to the Operations Manager, you will handle both preventive and reactive maintenance tasks to ensure a safe, functional environment for occupants.

Key responsibilities

• Perform general building maintenance, repairs, and plumbing work.
• Ensure compliance with all applicable codes, regulations, and company safety directives.
• Conduct risk assessments and follow pre‑work safety plans.
• Estimate time and materials required for each repair.
• Maintain professional communication with clients, employees, vendors, and contractors.
• Keep tools and materials organized on the work site.
• Close work orders within the response‑time policy and complete any additional duties assigned by contract representatives.

Required profile

• Valid driver’s licence with a clean abstract.
• 3‑5 years of experience in a similar maintenance role.
• Fluent English (read, write, speak).
• Ability to read mechanical, electrical and control drawings.
• Knowledge of building automation, HVAC, electrical systems and building fabric.
• Basic understanding of floor plans, work‑order systems and security procedures.
• Strong prioritisation skills and ability to work under pressure.
• Self‑starter, team player, and calm demeanor in emergencies.
