Construction Project Buyer (On‑site)

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our construction supply function on‑site at Port of Nigg. Reporting to Procurement Management, you will own key projects from design through to delivery, ensuring cost‑effective and timely procurement of materials and services.

Key responsibilities

• Drive project progress, taking full ownership of assigned purchases and delivering on schedule.
• Provide status updates and flag operational issues to the team promptly.
• Benchmark prices, interrogate costs and negotiate with suppliers to secure best value.
• Identify efficiency opportunities and optimise supply‑chain usage.
• Maintain budgetary control and contribute to financial reporting.
• Plan work throughput with Project Managers, manage changes and uphold internal SLAs.
• Ensure quality control throughout the supply chain and supervise on‑site work when required.
• Liaise with overseas offices, suppliers and partners, including occasional travel.
• Support new supplier selection and performance initiatives worldwide.

Required profile

• Proven project buying experience in the construction industry.
• Understanding of technical drawings.
• Knowledge of export/import processes.
• Experience managing domestic and overseas suppliers, especially in the Far East, UK and Eastern Europe.
• Highly numerate with strong attention to detail and budget control.
• Excellent communication, organisational and interpersonal skills.
• High energy level and willingness to explore all angles for solutions.
