Database Administrator – On‑site in London or Manchester

About the role

DXC Technology is seeking an experienced Database Administrator to join a platinum account team. The role is based on‑site in Central London or Manchester and involves supporting critical database services in a secure environment.

Key responsibilities

• Install and configure database binaries.
• Write and maintain scripts to automate DBA tasks.
• Investigate and implement process automation.
• Perform routine, periodic, and proactive operations and monitoring.
• Troubleshoot database‑related issues.
• Apply patches and upgrades to ensure data security.

Required profile

• Willingness to share knowledge and learn from others.
• Proactive approach to identifying risks and problems.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Strong organisational, analytical and problem‑solving skills.

Required skills

• Administration experience with Oracle, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, MySQL.
• Operating system experience with RHEL and Windows Server.
• Cloud experience with AWS and AWS database migrations.
• Automation tools such as Ansible.
• Database monitoring tools like OEM and Nagios.
• Scripting languages: PowerShell and Bash.
• Knowledge of clustering, failover, disaster recovery, and replication technologies (Data Guard, Replication Manager for PostgreSQL, MongoDB ReplicaSets).
• Backup and recovery procedures.
