Early Years Teaching Assistant – Graduate Opportunities in South East London

About the role

We are seeking recent Childhood Studies graduates to join primary schools across South East London as Early Years Teaching Assistants. This role offers a valuable bridge between academic study and a career in early years education, providing hands‑on classroom experience in Nursery and Reception settings.

Key responsibilities

• Support teachers and support staff in delivering play‑based learning activities.
• Assist small‑group interventions to promote language, communication and social development.
• Encourage independence through indoor and outdoor learning experiences.
• Provide additional support for pupils with special educational needs where required.
• Help maintain a safe, nurturing and stimulating classroom environment.

Required profile

• A degree in Childhood Studies.
• Genuine passion for supporting young children’s learning and development.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Caring, patient and enthusiastic attitude.
• Experience with children (e.g., nursery work, volunteering, childcare) is desirable but not essential.
