Earthworks Supervisor

About the role

We are looking for an experienced Earthworks Supervisor to join the HS2 project in the West Midlands. The role involves overseeing large‑scale earthworks activities, ensuring they are carried out safely, efficiently and in line with project specifications and programme targets.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise daily earthworks tasks such as excavation, cut and fill, grading, embankments and drainage.
• Manage site operatives, plant operators and subcontractors.
• Ensure compliance with health, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Deliver daily briefings and toolbox talks.
• Monitor progress against programme targets and report to site management.
• Maintain accurate site records, inspections and daily reports.
• Implement method statements and risk assessments.
• Coordinate plant, material and labour resources.
• Promote a positive safety culture across the workforce.

Required profile

• Previous experience as an Earthworks Supervisor, Foreman or General Foreman on major civil engineering projects.
• Gold CSCS Supervisor Card.
• SSSTS or SMSTS qualification.
• Strong understanding of bulk earthworks operations and safe systems of work.
• Excellent leadership and communication abilities.
• Experience on major infrastructure projects (rail, highways, utilities) is advantageous.
• Full UK driving licence preferred.
