Groundworker – Bristol

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Groundworker to join our Bristol depot and support the installation of steel structures and digital advertising screens across the South West. The role involves travelling to roadside and public sites, working both independently and as part of a small team.

Key responsibilities

• Travel to sites within the South West and wider South area, including occasional overnight stays.
• Perform hand and machine excavations for large mass concrete foundations and underground ducting.
• Cast mass concrete and set steel foundations, then finish groundworks with various surfacing materials (slabs, pavers, tarmac, floated concrete).
• Excavate around network cabling and adhere to Streetworks UK/NJUG standards.
• Maintain site safety in line with Construction Phase Plans, RAMS, and CDM 2015 regulations.
• Report near‑misses, accidents or incidents to the Construction Manager.
• Operate machinery such as CAT and Jenny excavators and use power tools (hydraulic breakers, disc saws, grinding wheels).

Required profile

• 3‑5 years’ experience in excavation works involving utilities.
• NRSWA qualified with traffic management knowledge.
• Understanding of CDM 2015 and safe working procedures.
• Ability to work at height using step ladders, tower scaffolding or MEMPs.
• Willingness to work evenings, weekends and occasional travel away from home.
• Strong problem‑solving skills and ability to manage workload within agreed timescales.
