Group Financial Controller

About the role

Canonical is seeking a Group Financial Controller to lead its accounting function across the EMEA region. The role is home‑based with the option to work from the London office and reports directly to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key responsibilities

• Identify and assess risks in financial processes and systems, and design controls to mitigate them.
• Develop, refine and implement Canonical’s accounting policies and procedures to support scalable growth.
• Monitor compliance with established policies and drive continuous improvement.
• Support cross‑functional change projects aimed at enhancing systems, data accuracy and process efficiency.
• Oversee weekly, month‑end and year‑end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate reporting.

Required profile

• Professionally qualified accountant with a strong sense of integrity and responsibility.
• Methodical, detail‑oriented and process‑driven problem‑solver.
• Resilient under pressure, especially during close periods.
• Personal interest in the software and technology industry, with exposure to data analytics, AI or software engineering concepts.
