Head of Art Teacher – Secondary School

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced Head of Art Teacher to lead a thriving secondary school art department in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire. This full‑time position starts in September 2026 and offers a unique opportunity to shape the artistic curriculum and inspire students across key stages.

Key responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the Art department, setting strategic direction.
• Teach Art to KS3 and KS4 pupils, with occasional KS5 responsibilities.
• Design and implement a dynamic, engaging curriculum aligned with national standards.
• Mentor and support fellow Art teachers, fostering professional growth.
• Drive departmental initiatives that promote artistic excellence and student engagement.

Required profile

• Proven experience as an Art teacher with department leadership responsibilities.
• Strong knowledge of the Art curriculum for KS3, KS4 and preferably KS5.
• Qualified teacher status (QTS) such as a PGCE.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
• Passion for art and a commitment to inspiring young learners.
