About the role
We are seeking a motivated recent English graduate to join a Good‑rated secondary school in Colchester as a Learning Support Assistant. This full‑time, onsite position offers the chance to work directly with students aged 11‑16, supporting them in lessons and helping create an inclusive learning environment.
Key responsibilities
- Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to students during lessons.
- Assist teachers in delivering engaging, inclusive classroom activities.
- Support pupils with SEND and varied learning needs to develop confidence and independence.
- Encourage active participation across the curriculum and promote positive learning behaviours.
- Collaborate with teaching staff, pastoral teams, and parents to ensure student wellbeing.
Required profile
- Degree in English or a related subject.
- Passion for education and supporting young people.
- Excellent communication, literacy and interpersonal skills.
- Proactive, patient and positive attitude.
- Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
- Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
