Multi Skilled Engineer – Facilities Management

About the role

We are looking for a Multi Skilled Engineer to join the Facilities Management team at HMP Oakwood. You will be responsible for delivering both planned and reactive maintenance across the prison estate, ensuring a safe and decent environment for staff and inmates.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out planned maintenance on building fabric, assets, and utilities in line with procedures.
• Respond to breakdowns and damage, providing out‑of‑hours support when required.
• Produce maintenance reports and technical procedures for building activities.
• Assist in training and developing other maintenance staff.
• Inspect and repair heating, water, ventilation, and mechanical equipment.
• Diagnose faults on mechanical support systems and rectify them.
• Follow detailed drawings and operational manuals for routine inspections and reactive repairs.
• Maintain furniture, internal and external fixtures, and other assets throughout the prison.

Required profile

• Relevant qualifications and proven experience in building services or mechanical maintenance.
• Ability to work safely and independently within a secure environment.
• Willingness to undertake out‑of‑hours duties as needed.
