Bookkeeper – Remote Flexibility

About the role

Are you an experienced Bookkeeper looking for a flexible role where you can manage your own portfolio of clients? A growing accountancy practice based in Chelmsford is seeking a Bookkeeper to join the team, offering predominantly remote work with occasional travel to the office.

Key responsibilities

• Manage bookkeeping for a portfolio of clients, mainly in the construction sector.
• Process sales and purchase invoices, bank transactions, reconciliations and journals.
• Maintain accurate and up‑to‑date financial records for clients.
• Prepare VAT returns and support clients with day‑to‑day accounting requirements.
• Liaise directly with clients to resolve queries and provide practical bookkeeping support.
• Assist with month‑end processes and provide information for management and year‑end accounts.

Required profile

• Previous bookkeeping experience within an accountancy practice.
• Experience working with construction clients (highly advantageous).
• Experience using accounting software such as Xero, Sage, QuickBooks or similar.

What we offer

• Salary between £30,000 and £38,000 per year.
• Predominantly remote working.
• Only occasional travel required to the Chelmsford office.
