CNC Miller – Setter/Operator

About the role

We are looking for an experienced CNC Miller – Setter/Operator to join a leading precision engineering manufacturer in Bristol. The role involves setting up and operating 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC milling machines to produce complex, high‑precision components for demanding industries.

Key responsibilities

• Set up and operate 3, 4 and 5‑axis CNC milling machines using Heidenhain and/or Fanuc controls.
• Select, install and set cutting tools, fixtures and work‑holding equipment.
• Set work offsets with probes, wobble bars and DTI clocks.
• Manufacture components to engineering drawings and customer specifications, meeting tight tolerances.
• Monitor machining operations, adjust parameters to maintain quality and efficiency.
• Complete production documentation, setup sheets and tooling records.
• Participate in continuous improvement, SQDCP meetings and 5S activities.
• Report quality concerns and support delivery schedule adherence.

Required profile

• Proven experience as a CNC Miller – Setter/Operator.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machining principles and best practices.
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Experience working with precision measuring equipment.
• Attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Required skills

• Operation of 3‑axis, 4‑axis and 5‑axis CNC milling machines.
• Heidenhain and Fanuc control systems.
• Setting work offsets using probes, wobble bars and DTI clocks.
• Selection and installation of cutting tools, fixtures and work‑holding devices.
• Use of micrometers, verniers, plug gauges and other inspection equipment.
