Design Engineer - Structures

About the role

Robert Bird Group is seeking a Design Engineer – Structures to join its London office. The role involves taking ownership of detailed structural design for a diverse portfolio of commercial, mixed‑use and data‑centre projects, working closely with architects, contractors and other engineering disciplines.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct structural surveys and desk studies, providing initial technical advice.
• Prepare conceptual and outline designs under the guidance of senior engineers.
• Develop detailed design calculations in line with Eurocodes and relevant standards.
• Produce 3‑D models and drawings using industry‑standard software.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure seamless integration of structural solutions.

Required profile

• Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent qualification.
• Experience in structural design for commercial or mixed‑use projects.
• Ability to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environment.

Required skills

• Proficiency with Eurocodes for structural design.
• Competence in 3‑D modelling software (e.g., Revit, Tekla, or similar).
