HGV Driver Trainer

About the role

We are seeking a motivated HGV Driver Trainer to join our Skelmersdale depot within the Muller Milk and Ingredients Distribution Business. You will deliver high‑quality driver assessments, inductions and ongoing development training, focusing on safety, CPC compliance and fuel‑efficient driving techniques.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct pre‑employment driver assessments for permanent and agency drivers.
• Deliver new‑driver induction and continuous development training, including vehicle and trailer familiarisation.
• Support CPC periodic training and fuel‑efficient driving programmes.
• Maintain accurate compliance records and ensure GDPR adherence.
• Collaborate with transport and compliance teams to promote safety culture and best practices.
• Assist with post‑incident training and driver licence entitlement verification.

Required profile

• HGV Class 1 licence (LGV Cat C+E) with a clean driving record (no more than six minor points).
• Current CPC and digital driving card.
• Self‑motivated, reliable and able to work both independently and as part of a team.
• Positive attitude towards safety and continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Knowledge of fuel‑efficient driving techniques.
• Familiarity with driver assessment tools and performance indicators (e.g., Connexus).
• Understanding of GDPR and compliance documentation.

What we offer

• Permanent full‑time contract (47.5 hours per week).
• Shift pattern: 5 days on, 2 days off (Tuesday‑Saturday) with a 13:00 start.
• Hourly rate of £17.30 plus a £40 per week Driver Trainer supplement.
