Lead Engineer

About the role

We are seeking a Lead Engineer to join a fast‑paced food manufacturing business in Stonehouse. This is a hands‑on leadership position where you will oversee day‑to‑day engineering activities, ensure equipment reliability and mentor a small engineering team.

Key responsibilities

• Manage planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across the site.
• Drive continuous‑improvement projects to minimise production downtime.
• Maintain and improve engineering standards and processes.
• Coordinate engineering workloads and prioritize tasks.
• Support and develop junior engineers through coaching and mentoring.

Required profile

• Previous experience in a manufacturing or industrial maintenance environment.
• Multi‑skilled background covering both electrical and mechanical engineering.
• Proven ability to lead, supervise or mentor engineering teams.
• Strong communication and organisational skills.
• Proactive attitude towards continuous improvement.

Required skills

• Electrical fault‑finding
• Mechanical fault‑finding
• PLC fault‑finding (inputs and outputs)
• Use of CMMS systems
• Lean Manufacturing / Continuous Improvement techniques
