Shift Engineer (Reactive Maintenance)

About the role

Saputo Dairy UK, which produces British cheese, dairy spreads and dairy-free products under brands such as Cathedral City, Clover, Country Life and Wensleydale, has 18 packaging lines after recent investment. It is hiring a shift engineer to support the shifts and play a key role in the continued evolution of the engineering department. This is a hands-on role covering reactive engineering requirements across two packaging production areas, working on both mechanical and electrical requirements.

Key responsibilities

• Maintain multiple lines of automated systems, slicers, scales, bagging, sealers and packaging equipment
• Optimise line performance to meet and exceed KPIs in equipment reliability and efficiency
• Capture and record information on plant performance
• Complete maintenance activities to drive a predictive approach and prevent equipment failures

Required profile

• HNC or HND background
• Hands-on reactive experience with a broad range of equipment in a production or manufacturing environment
• Experience with lean manufacturing tools and techniques
• Experience working within a TPM environment

Required skills

• Fault-finding with PLCs (nice to have, not a prerequisite)
• CMMS use and interpretation of data to improve plant efficiency and identify top losses
