Manufacturing Engineer – Ship Production (Scotstoun & Govan)

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer to support ship manufacture and integration at its Scotstoun and Govan sites. You will work closely with cross‑functional teams to optimise engineering definitions, drive continuous improvement and ensure safe, repeatable delivery of world‑class products.

Key responsibilities

• Collaborate with design, production and quality teams to align engineering deliverables with current and future capabilities, embedding Value Engineering, APQP and PFMEA best practices.
• Apply Lean tools and problem‑solving techniques to improve efficiency, quality and schedule performance across ship manufacturing and supporting processes.
• Develop clear, visual work instructions that specify tooling, equipment and plant requirements for the operations team.
• Plan and define facilities, equipment, tooling and processes to meet quality, cost and safety targets.
• Maintain a strong focus on health and safety throughout all activities.

Required profile

• Ability to understand and interpret engineering requirements, specifications, cost, quality and schedule drivers.
• Strong interpersonal skills for facilitating, coaching, presenting and stakeholder management.
• Project and task management experience in coordinating and delivering engineering activities.
• Knowledge of manufacturing/production engineering processes and standards, including health & safety regulations.
• Relevant engineering or manufacturing qualification (apprenticeship, HNC/HND, degree) or equivalent experience.
