Practice Accountant – Operational Delivery

About the role

We are looking for a Practice Accountant to join a growing accountancy practice that is mid‑merger and supporting ambitious SMEs. The role sits in the operational delivery team, helping to stabilise and improve the firm’s finance services while working closely with junior staff and senior stakeholders.

Key responsibilities

• Produce and review monthly management accounts for multiple clients using various accounting systems.
• Perform quality control checks on reconciliations, spot errors early and ensure consistency before client delivery.
• Coordinate workflow across junior delivery staff remotely via Teams, managing deadlines and priorities.
• Act as the day‑to‑day contact for clients, explaining financial information in plain English.
• Develop practical procedures, checklists and working rhythms to make delivery more resilient.

Required profile

• Enjoys improving messy processes rather than complaining about them.
• Can operate calmly across competing priorities and notice where work breaks down.
• Communicates clearly and practically, with a strong sense of operational discipline.
• Values autonomy, accountability and visible impact.

Required skills

What we offer

• Salary between £36,000 and £40,000 per year, dependent on experience and study stage.
• Funded professional study support for ACCA, ICAEW, CIMA or Tax qualifications.
• Predominantly office‑based work with flexibility for remote days.
