Production Manager – Precision Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Production Manager to join the Senior Leadership Team of a precision engineering manufacturer. You will own day‑to‑day output, lead a skilled CNC workforce and ensure on‑time, in‑full delivery while upholding aerospace and defence compliance.

Key responsibilities

• Contribute to company strategy, growth planning and operational improvement as a senior leader.
• Provide clear reporting on operational KPIs and performance trends.
• Own production output, delivery performance and operational stability across all product streams.
• Lead capacity management with the Planner, strategically control overtime and manage NPI handover.
• Ensure compliance with aerospace/defence standards (e.g., AS9100), maintain traceability and support audits.
• Lead, coach and develop shop‑floor Team Leaders and machinists, set performance standards and retain key talent.

Required profile

• 5+ years of production leadership in precision engineering or related manufacturing.
• Experience in aerospace and/or defence environments.
• Strong understanding of CNC milling and turning operations.
• Proven track record of improving productivity, utilisation, scrap/rework and overtime spend.
• Confident with ERP/MRP systems and Excel for KPI reporting.
• Calm, fair‑but‑firm, commercially aware and an effective cross‑functional communicator.
