School Caretaker – Hackney (Full‑time Temp)

About the role

We are seeking a dedicated caretaker to join a vibrant school located near Hackney, East London. This hands‑on role ensures a safe, welcoming environment for students and staff.

Key responsibilities

• Locking up the site and setting the alarm
• Conducting weekly fire alarm checks and maintaining safety protocols
• Performing general repairs and maintenance tasks within the school
• Unblocking sinks and toilets, fixing door and window handles
• Carrying out painting and decorating tasks as needed
• Replacing toilet seats, installing shelves and pin boards
• Conducting daily health and safety checks
• Overseeing contractors on site and ensuring standards are met
• Providing porterage services, moving furniture and delivering parcels
• Maintaining grounds, emptying bins and replenishing supplies such as soap and hand sanitizer

Required profile

• Previous experience in a caretaker or maintenance role is preferred
• Ability to perform physical tasks and handle various handyperson duties
• Knowledge of health and safety regulations
• Good organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks
• Reliable, punctual and able to work independently
