Senior Noise & Vibration Engineer – Warship

About the role

BAE Systems is seeking a Senior Noise & Vibration Engineer to join the Warship Capability Centre in Scotstoun. You will lead acoustic signature measurements and assessments across the full ship‑building lifecycle, from design through to sea trials.

Key responsibilities

• Conduct noise and vibration measurements, acoustic signature predictions and technical assessments during Factory Acceptance Testing, Harbour Trials and Sea Trials.
• Support Global Combat Ships programmes to meet whole‑ship signature requirements throughout design, procurement, integration and trial phases.
• Lead N&V Factory Acceptance Test measurements at supplier facilities (UK and overseas) and report findings to the Principal Engineer.
• Liaise with the Test and Commissioning team to plan and execute machinery vibration assurance and acceptance measurements during harbour and sea trials.
• Deputise for the Principal Engineer in planning assurance and acceptance measurement programmes, collaborating with the Technical Authority and MoD Acceptance Authority.
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior engineers within the Capability Centre.

Required profile

• Bachelor’s (honours) or Master’s degree in Engineering, Technology or Science.
• Membership of a Professional Engineering Institution recognised by the Engineering Council.
• Registered or working towards Chartered Engineer (CEng) status.
• Proven experience in noise and vibration engineering for marine platforms.

• Noise and vibration measurement acquisition techniques.
• Acoustic signature prediction software.
• Data acquisition and analysis tools for vibration and acoustic data.
• Experience with factory acceptance testing and sea‑trial measurement protocols.
