Sewing Machinist – Industrial Sewing Operations

About the role

We are seeking a skilled Sewing Machinist to join our production team in Milton Keynes. You will operate industrial sewing equipment, ensure high‑quality stitching, and maintain a safe, organised work environment.

Key responsibilities

• Examine process sheets, work orders, or patterns to determine equipment set‑up and selection details.
• Set‑up and operate industrial sewing machines, including flatbeds and overlockers.
• Perform routine machine maintenance such as threading, cleaning, and basic adjustments.
• Prepare materials by laying out fabric and measuring accurately according to job orders and drawings.
• Monitor machine operation to detect stitching defects, thread breaks, or malfunctions.
• Report any discrepancies or equipment issues to the supervisor.
• Attach job orders to completed products and record quantities processed.
• Maintain a clean, orderly, and safe work area.
• Carry out additional duties as assigned.

Required profile

• Previous experience in an industrial sewing environment.
• Familiarity with flatbed and overlocker sewing machines.

Required skills

• Operation of industrial sewing machines (flatbeds and overlockers).
• Machine set‑up, threading, cleaning and basic maintenance.
• Accurate material preparation and measurement.
• Ability to monitor stitching quality and identify machine issues.
