Site Supervisor – HVDC Construction

About the role

Scottish Power Transmissions is seeking an experienced Site Supervisor to join the Eastern Green Link 1 (EGL1) project, the first east‑coast HVDC link in the UK. The role is contract‑based initially and will be based on the Torness site, overseeing large‑scale civil and electrical construction activities.

Key responsibilities

• Ensure all works comply with SPT quality, environmental and technical standards and flag any non‑compliant activities.
• Report to the Convertors Project Manager and attend all site and progress meetings.
• Monitor daily construction activities, maintain a daily diary and produce weekly site progress reports.
• Identify programme and works risks, advise the Project Manager, and coordinate remedial actions with the Principal Contractor.
• Conduct weekly safety audits and ensure timely resolution of any issues.
• Manage contractor and subcontractor interfaces, ensuring coordination across earthworks, civil works, substations, building services, cabling and tunnelling.
• Liaise with the SPT Land & Planning team on grantor requirements.

Required profile

• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a Clerk of Works or similar role, primarily on civil works.
• Recent experience on Scottish Power Transmission projects or other electricity network operators (e.g., SSE, NGC).
• Working knowledge of CDM Regulations and associated key roles.
• Full, clean driving licence with access to a vehicle for site travel.
• Advantageous: SP authorisation at WI‑1 and EN‑1.
