Special Educational Needs Teaching Assistant (SEN TA)

About the role

Academics is seeking an experienced SEN Teaching Assistant to join a school in Tonbridge on a full‑time, long‑term basis. This role offers the chance to make a real difference for pupils with Special Educational Needs, helping them build confidence and achieve their learning goals.

Key responsibilities

• Provide one‑to‑one and small‑group support to pupils, encouraging engagement and progress.
• Collaborate with teachers to deliver inclusive and creative learning activities.
• Assist children with a range of needs, including Autism, ADHD, SEMH, speech & language difficulties, and other learning challenges.
• Adapt resources and teaching strategies to suit individual requirements.
• Promote independence, positive behaviour, and confidence through patience and consistency.
• Build trusting relationships with pupils, staff, and families.
• Offer personal care or manage specialist equipment when required.

Required profile

• Desirable experience working with children or young people with SEN.
• Caring, patient, and resilient attitude with a genuine passion for supporting children.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
• Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
• Legal right to work in the United Kingdom.
