Trainee Building Inspector (Apprenticeship)

About the role

The LABC Academy, in partnership with Kirklees Council, is offering a fully funded two‑year Trainee Building Inspector programme. You will work within a local authority building control team while studying for Level 4 and Level 5 Diplomas in Building Control Surveying.

Key responsibilities

• Assist with building control surveys and inspections on construction sites.
• Support designers and contractors to achieve compliance with building regulations.
• Participate in technical investigations and respond to dangerous structure call‑outs.
• Collaborate with a dedicated mentor and attend on‑the‑job training sessions.

Required profile

• Based in or willing to relocate to Kirklees (HD1 9EL).
• Full UK driving licence or commitment to obtain one before start date.
• Enthusiasm for a career in construction, building control, or surveying.

Required skills

• Building control surveying.
• Knowledge of building regulations compliance.
