VAT Accountant

About the role

G.Network is building London’s next‑generation full‑fibre broadband network and is looking for a VAT Accountant to join its finance team. This role is ideal for a part‑qualified accountant who wants to develop their career in a fast‑growing infrastructure business while supporting accurate financial reporting and strong controls.

Key responsibilities

• Prepare and submit monthly and quarterly VAT returns.
• Support month‑end close by preparing journals, reconciliations, schedules and working papers.
• Assist in producing management accounts and financial reporting packs.
• Deliver variance analysis and commentary against budgets, forecasts and prior periods.
• Reconcile balance‑sheet accounts and investigate discrepancies promptly.
• Maintain robust financial control processes and contribute to a strong control environment.
• Support statutory accounts preparation and year‑end audit requirements.
• Assist with tax reporting and compliance activities.
• Partner with FP&A to ensure accurate cost and revenue recording.
• Collaborate on data‑quality improvements and reporting efficiency projects.

Required profile

• Part‑qualified accountant (AAT, ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Strong knowledge of financial accounting and UK VAT month‑end processes.
• Advanced Excel skills, including data analysis and financial modelling.
• Experience with Salesforce, FinancialForce or similar ERP/CRM systems is desirable.
• Exposure to statutory accounts preparation and external audits is a plus.
