Project Manager – Utilities & Civil Engineering

About the role

We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to join a leading utilities contractor in Falmer, East Sussex. The role involves overseeing water and civil engineering projects, ensuring they are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the required quality standards.

Key responsibilities

• Develop detailed project plans, including scope, schedule (using MS Project) and budget, aligned with contract requirements.
• Allocate labour, materials and equipment efficiently to meet project needs.
• Manage sub‑contracts, securing best value for the company and client.
• Monitor and control project costs, track spend to date and profit margins.
• Maintain project schedules, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
• Identify risks and implement mitigation strategies.
• Communicate progress to clients and address any concerns.
• Lead the project team, including subcontractors and site supervisors.
• Ensure compliance with quality standards, building codes and safety regulations.
• Maintain accurate documentation such as contracts, change orders and progress reports.
• Drive process improvements and adopt best practices.

Required profile

• Strong leadership with the ability to motivate teams.

• Organisational and time‑management skills to handle multiple projects.
• Commitment to client satisfaction and safe working practices.
• Substantial experience in construction project management, preferably within utilities or civil engineering.
