Programme Manager – Civil Engineering (Nuclear Infrastructure)

About the role

This senior Programme Manager position leads the delivery of complex civil engineering works within a nuclear‑licensed site at Workington. Reporting to the Head of Projects, you will provide programme‑level leadership, coordination and governance across multiple concurrent projects from inception to commissioning and handover.

Key responsibilities

• Support the Head of Projects in planning, coordinating and delivering a portfolio of civil engineering projects.
• Provide oversight of scope, cost, schedule, risk and performance at programme level.
• Ensure integration across design, procurement, construction and commissioning activities.
• Oversee delivery of groundworks, reinforced concrete structures, infrastructure and drainage systems, earthworks and structural modifications.
• Maintain compliance with nuclear site licence conditions, safety, environmental and quality standards.
• Manage subcontractor performance in collaboration with commercial teams.
• Maintain risk registers, produce progress reports, financial forecasts and risk updates for senior stakeholders.
• Act as the primary interface between project teams, client representatives, regulators and supply‑chain partners.

Required profile

• Proven senior leadership experience in civil engineering programme delivery, preferably within a regulated nuclear environment.
• Strong ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and drive them to successful completion.
• Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills with regulators, clients and internal teams.
• Demonstrated competence in risk management, performance monitoring and financial control.
